Sahel Village Simulation

Today Mr. Samuel's 7th grade SS classes came in for a simulation on drought, deforestation, and desertification in the Sahel region of Africa. Students assumed roles like Chief, Keeper of the Trees, anthropologist, and agricultural expert. Other students became citizens of the fictional Goma Village. Students were led through the different processes of deforestation and erosion and the effect these things have on agriculture. Check out the Animoto above for some pictures of the activity.
